Lead Civil Engineer 

Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting for a Lead Civil Engineer in Dartford. 

Salary is £55,000 to £62,000 per annum, plus a bonus scheme, with a flexible hybrid working arrangement and a senior role suited to an experienced civil engineer who can lead a small team and deliver both design and site support.

The Role:

This is a mixed design-and-site position covering drainage, highways, flood risk, and infrastructure work across retail, healthcare, commercial, and residential schemes. 

You will lead a small team of civil technicians and engineers, manage client relationships, and make sure projects are delivered to a high standard, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and support a small team of civil technicians and engineers.
• Deliver drainage, highways, and infrastructure design work across varied projects.
• Prepare and review drainage strategies, FRA work, and SuDS solutions.
• Use MicroDrainage and Civil 3D for design delivery and coordination.
• Attend client meetings, represent the business professionally, and maintain strong working relationships.
• Check technical outputs from technicians and engineers to ensure quality and compliance.
• Balance office-based design work with site visits and project support.
• Monitor deadlines and budgets while maintaining an excellent level of service.
• Work closely with internal teams, consultants, suppliers, and third parties.
• Support Chartered development if not already Chartered.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 to 7 years’ relevant civil engineering experience.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills.
• Proven experience with drainage design, FRA work, drainage strategies, and SuDS.
• Highways experience.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small team.
• Proficiency in MicroDrainage, with Civil 3D knowledge preferred.
• Chartered status, or clear ambition to achieve Chartership.
• Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering, ideally BEng, BSc, MEng, or MSc.
• Preferably MICE.

Suitable Experience:

This role will suit a Civil Engineer, Senior Civil Engineer, or Lead Civil Engineer with a strong consultancy background and experience across residential, commercial, healthcare, or retail development work. It is a strong fit for someone who wants a balance of design, client contact, and site involvement rather than a purely office-based or purely site-based role.
