Senior Quantity Surveyor

Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting for a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a successful construction and civil engineering business in the Manchester area, offering up to £80,000 per year plus an electric company vehicle.

The Role:

This is an urgent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of commercial, cost-control and reporting activity across a range of projects.

You will work throughout the project lifecycle, helping to protect profitability, manage financial performance and ensure accurate commercial information is available to the wider management team.

Shift Pattern:

• Monday to Friday, standard office and project-based working hours.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide commercial support during pre-construction and project planning stages

• Prepare and manage applications for payment, invoices and associated commercial documentation

• Reconcile client payments and monitor outstanding balances

• Assess and price variations, design amendments and commercial changes

• Prepare, negotiate and close final accounts

• Complete quarterly internal cost valuations

• Produce and maintain accurate Cost to Complete forecasts

• Monitor project expenditure and report financial performance to management

• Support the continued development of internal costing and commercial-control processes

• Use Eque2 software to assist with cost management, reporting and financial control

• Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, subcontractors and project stakeholders

• Ensure commercial records remain accurate, organised and up to date

Requirements:

• Minimum HNC qualification in Construction, Civil Engineering or a related discipline

• At least two years’ relevant Quantity Surveying experience

• Strong understanding of cost management, valuation processes and commercial reporting

• Confident use of Microsoft Excel and other relevant IT systems

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail

• Organised, reliable and able to manage competing priorities effectively

• Experience of Eque2 or comparable cost-management software would be advantageous

Suitable Experience:

This role would suit a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience in construction, civil engineering or project-led contracting environments.

Candidates should be comfortable working independently on commercial tasks while collaborating closely with operational, finance and project teams.
