Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting for a Consultant in Obstetrics & Gynaecology to join an HSC Trust in Northern Ireland on an urgent basis.

This is a substantive consultant post contributing to consultant-led obstetric and gynaecology services, including labour ward, emergency obstetric care, inpatient and outpatient services, and elective and emergency operative gynaecology.

The successful candidate will participate in the consultant on-call rota and labour ward service, delivering high-quality care across the full spectrum of O&G practice.

Shift Pattern:

· Full-time, with participation in the consultant on-call rota and labour ward cover as required.

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide consultant-led obstetric and gynaecology services across inpatient and outpatient settings.

· Deliver labour ward and emergency obstetric care, including high-risk cases.

· Perform elective and emergency operative gynaecology procedures.

· Conduct obstetric ultrasound, including fetal biometry, liquor assessment, placental localisation and cervical length assessment.

· Contribute to service development priorities such as high-risk obstetrics, twin and pre-term birth services, and fetal medicine.

· Support patient safety initiatives, including PROMPT training and ambulatory gynaecology pathways.

· Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

· Uphold professional standards in line with GMC guidance and Trust policies.

Requirements:

· Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practise.

· Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Obstetrics & Gynaecology.

· MRCOG or equivalent recognised specialist qualification.

· Continuous NHS/HSC/Irish experience at Consultant level (ideally 1 year or more).

· Willingness to participate in the consultant on-call rota and labour ward service.

· Competent in obstetric ultrasound and emergency obstetric care.

· Strong communication, leadership and team-working skills.

· Commitment to patient safety, quality improvement and service development.

Suitable Experience:

This vacancy would suit candidates with a background as a Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, O&G Consultant, or senior specialist with CCT and substantial labour ward and operative gynaecology experience.

Interest in areas such as labour ward leadership, high-risk obstetrics, fetal medicine, urogynaecology, colposcopy, menopause services or early pregnancy care is desirable.
