The Role

Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting for an experienced Registered Manager to lead a well-established three-bed children’s residential home in the Kempston area. This is a pivotal leadership role for a candidate ready to drive quality improvements, strengthen safeguarding practice, and guide the home towards a Good Ofsted rating while providing outstanding care for young people aged 11 to 17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties.jobs.service.gov+2

Shift Pattern

Full-time, days — exact hours to be confirmed with the home. Occasional sleep-ins may be required depending on operational need.jobs.service.gov+1

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visible, hands-on leadership to the home and staff team

• Lead continuous improvement in care quality, safeguarding and daily practice

• Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations, quality standards and inspections

• Oversee effective care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies for residents

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with social workers, placing authorities and other professionals

• Support staff development, supervision and training in line with residential childcare best practice

• Monitor outcomes for young people and drive a culture of reflective, child-centred carejobs.service.gov+3

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Registered Manager in an Ofsted-registered children’s residential home

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards with clear timeline)

• Strong knowledge of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding legislation and quality standards in children’s services

• Demonstrable success in leading homes through improvement journeys and inspections

• Excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills

• Commitment to promoting positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young peoplejobs.service.gov+3

Suitable Experience

You will be an established Registered Manager with a track record of managing small to medium-sized children’s homes, confidently leading staff teams, and delivering compliant, high-quality residential care. Experience of working with young people presenting with emotional and behavioural difficulties is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with local authorities and multi-agency partners.jobs.service.gov+3
