The Role:
Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting for a Construction Technician to join a further education provider in Northamptonshire.
This hands-on role will involve preparing practical teaching areas, maintaining tools and equipment, managing materials and supporting a safe, well-organised environment for students learning construction skills.
Working alongside teaching staff, you will help ensure workshops are properly equipped and ready for lessons.
The role is well suited to someone with practical construction experience who would like to use their industry knowledge in an educational setting.
Working Hours:
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare workshops, tools, materials and equipment for practical teaching sessions.
Set up and clear practical areas before and after classes.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and housekeeping.
Carry out routine checks, basic maintenance and minor repairs where appropriate.
Monitor stock levels and arrange materials and consumables as required.
Maintain accurate records of equipment, assets, stock and workshop resources.
Support lecturers and teaching staff during practical activities when required.
Ensure tools, equipment and facilities are used and stored safely.
Help maintain compliance with health and safety procedures.
Promote a professional, positive and supportive learning environment.
Assist with the secure management of tools, materials and specialist equipment.
Contribute to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion across the learning environment.
Requirements:
Practical experience within construction, building services or a related trade.
GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or equivalent.
Good organisational and time management skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Competence using Microsoft Office and standard business systems.
The ability to work independently and use initiative.
A reliable, flexible and proactive approach.
A commitment to safeguarding, health and safety and inclusive working practices.
Suitable Experience:
Experience as a Construction Technician, Workshop Technician, Carpentry Technician, Maintenance Technician, Site Operative, Construction Assistant, Trade Assistant or practical construction professional may be relevant.
Experience maintaining workshop tools and equipment, carpentry experience or previous work within education, training or further education would be advantageous. First Aid training and knowledge of construction methods, building technology or technical information would also be beneficial.
The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced DBS check.
