HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver

The Role

Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting for experienced HGV Class 2 HIAB Drivers to support construction, builders’ merchant and logistics operations across the Northampton area. The role involves delivering materials to commercial sites, construction projects and customer locations using a lorry-mounted crane.

You will be responsible for completing deliveries safely, operating the HIAB equipment correctly and maintaining a professional service at every site.

Shift Pattern

Monday to Friday, daytime shifts, with start times varying according to the assignment. Occasional Saturday work may be available.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle safely and professionally.

• Deliver building materials and other goods to customer and construction sites.

• Operate the HIAB crane in accordance with training and site procedures.

• Load, unload and position materials safely using the crane.

• Complete daily vehicle and equipment checks.

• Secure loads correctly before and during each journey.

• Assess delivery locations and follow site-specific safety requirements.

• Complete delivery paperwork and electronic records accurately.

• Communicate professionally with customers, site teams and transport planners.

• Follow drivers’ hours, tachograph, health and safety regulations.

• Report vehicle, equipment or delivery issues promptly.

Requirements

• Valid HGV Class 2 licence.

• Driver CPC qualification.

• Digital tachograph card.

• Current HIAB qualification or relevant crane certification.

• Recent experience driving Class 2 HIAB vehicles.

• Good understanding of load security and lifting safety.

• Ability to work safely on construction sites and customer premises.

• Reliable and professional approach.

• Good communication and customer service skills.

• No more than the permitted number of licence points, subject to insurer requirements.

Suitable Experience

This role would suit candidates with previous experience as an HGV Class 2 HIAB Driver, LGV C HIAB Driver, brick grab driver, crane lorry driver, builders’ merchant delivery driver, building materials delivery driver or construction logistics driver.
