Job Description:

Role Overview

This one’s for an engineer who’s comfortable operating at the sharp end of complex, high-stakes technical environments. Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer for a specialist shaft and mining operation in North Yorkshire, where you’ll be shaping the electrical and automation backbone of large-scale, technically demanding facilities.

Working on a 7-on/5-off, 5-on/4-off shift pattern with 31 days’ holiday (24 rostered into your days off, 7 to take freely), this role puts you at the centre of both the technical delivery and the leadership of the teams making it happen.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Planning, designing and developing electrical and automation (instrumentation and control) machinery and plant concepts within the shaft and mining sectors

  • Overseeing installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of complex technical facilities and large specialist equipment

  • Providing technical leadership to multinational teams and coordinating subcontractors and suppliers

  • Ensuring full compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and licensing requirements

  • Holding responsibility toward technical regulatory authorities

  • Contributing to occupational safety concepts and carrying out technical risk analyses

  • Supporting conventional and mechanised shaft sinking methods, including equipment such as winders, winches and ventilation systems, ensuring smooth operation throughout

  • Collaborating closely with mechanical, mining and engineering departments, particularly around control and drive technology

What You’ll Need

  • A degree in engineering — electrical, automation, or a comparable field

  • Several years’ professional experience in mining, shaft construction, or related sectors such as tunnelling, specialist civil engineering, or electrical/automation engineering of specialist equipment

  • Strong knowledge of the planning, construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical and automation engineering systems

  • Experience working with international regulations is preferred

Why This Role

A salary of £80,000, a structured and predictable shift pattern with genuine time off, and the chance to lead technically demanding, high-impact work in a specialist field where your expertise really counts.
