Job Description:

Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting for an experienced Vehicle Technician to join a busy automotive workshop in the Basingstoke area.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity offering a starting salary of £40,000 per year, with bonus earnings available.

The Role:

You will carry out vehicle servicing, inspections, maintenance and repairs across a range of makes and models.

This is a hands-on workshop position for a capable technician with strong mechanical knowledge, a professional work ethic and the ability to identify and resolve faults to a high standard.

You will play an important part in ensuring vehicles are safe, roadworthy and maintained in accordance with required workshop, safety and environmental standards.

Shift Pattern:

Choose from one of the following working patterns:

  • Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:00, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break
  • Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00, plus every other Saturday, 08:30–17:30, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break
  • Optional Saturday overtime may be available and is paid at an enhanced rate

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out routine servicing, mechanical maintenance and repairs on a range of vehicles
  • Inspect vehicles thoroughly and identify faults that could affect roadworthiness, safety or performance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and complete repairs in line with workshop standards
  • Undertake cambelt and wet-belt replacement work safely and efficiently
  • Complete vehicle health checks and report repair requirements clearly
  • Use hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment safely and correctly
  • Maintain accurate job cards, inspection records and repair documentation
  • Communicate technical findings professionally with colleagues and customers
  • Keep work areas clean, organised and compliant with health and safety procedures
  • Contribute to an efficient, quality-focused workshop environment

Requirements:

  • IMI, NVQ, City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or equivalent
  • Time-served Vehicle Technicians with demonstrable equivalent experience are also encouraged to apply
  • Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician within a professional automotive workshop
  • Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of modern vehicle systems
  • Proven experience with cambelt and wet-belt replacements
  • Confident use of hand tools, power tools and workshop equipment
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Own tools
  • High standard of attention to detail and ability to identify defects accurately
  • Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a workshop team
  • Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Basingstoke
  • Permanent right to live and work in the UK

Suitable Experience:

This role is suited to a qualified or time-served Vehicle Technician, Motor Mechanic, Service Technician or Light Vehicle Technician with solid servicing and repair experience.

Candidates with dealership, independent garage, fast-fit, fleet or professional workshop backgrounds will be considered, provided they can demonstrate the required technical ability and work ethic.
