Job Description:

Blue Recruitment Personnel is recruiting for a Waking Night Support Worker to join a children’s residential service in the Chichester area, offering £16.00 per hour plus full-time and part-time opportunities. 

This is a rewarding role for a calm, caring professional who wants to help create a safe and supportive overnight environment for children and young people.

The Role:

You will play a vital role in supporting children and young people overnight, helping them feel safe, settled and cared for throughout the night. 

Working within a supportive residential childcare team, you will help maintain a calm, nurturing environment and respond appropriately to the needs of each young person. 

This is a hands-on role where professionalism, empathy and sound judgement are essential.

Shift Pattern: 

  • 9:30 PM to 10:00 AM, 
  • Working a rotating rota of 2 on / 2 off, then 3 on / 3 off.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, secure and supportive environment throughout the night.
  • Carry out regular welfare checks and respond calmly to incidents or concerns.
  • Support children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
  • Build positive, respectful and professional relationships.
  • Complete accurate records, handovers and daily documentation.
  • Administer medication where trained and authorised.
  • Use trauma-informed and positive behaviour approaches.
  • Work closely with colleagues to maintain consistency of care.
  • Help keep the home clean, welcoming and homely.
  • Promote safeguarding and place the welfare of every child first.
  • Follow relevant policies, procedures and children’s homes regulations.

Requirements:

  • A full UK driving licence.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work waking night shifts.
  • A calm, reliable and resilient approach.
  • Confidence working independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills and the ability to complete written records.

Suitable Experience:

  • Previous experience in a children’s residential home or similar childcare setting.
  • Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it.
